Wet-on-Wet Painting
Enter into the nature of colour as a soul experience, where the spiritual beings of colour and movement are present. Strengthen and enliven the development of the soul by what arrives as a growing understanding of the being of colour and how this works on the page and its activity within the human being.
Paints, brushes, paper and a sponge are required for this lesson. Instructions and sources are provided.
Handcraft
Handcraft offers the educator another perspective to observe and listen to the child as they use their hands to meet the world of fibre, colour, texture… We can learn about their senses and watch the way the breathe, position themselves and move as they turn something from nature in something of beauty and purpose. There is great value in stories and verses, rhythm and routine.
The history of the various crafts are touched on as this brings the long view to our shared humanity and how many of the items and clothing we use today were made using the simple craft techniques the children can learn.
Exercises are given to help the educator increase competency in the skills of variety of craft.
Embroider your own needle case and other craft items. Ideas are shared on appropriate crafts for different ages, stages of development and methods to enable all abilities to create joyfully with their hands.
